We believe that transparency is the key to any healthy relationship. We appreciate that you trust us with information that is important to you, and we want to be transparent about how we use it.

Airmeter (“we”, “our”, “us”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal data. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use the Airmeter mobile application (“App”)

DATA CONTROLLER

For the purposes of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), Airmeter acts as the data controller of personal data collected through the App.

DATA WE COLLECT

When you use Airmeter, we may collect and process the following categories of personal data: 

  • Account Information: Name, email address, and login credentials if you create an account.

  • Device Data: Information from your connected SONOFF SPM device(s) via the eWeLink cloud, including energy usage data, device status, and room allocations. 

  • Technical Data: IP address, app version, device type, operating system, and usage statistics.

  • Support Data: Any information you voluntarily provide when contacting us for support 

We do not process payment data. All hardware (e.g., SONOFF SPM devices) must be installed by a certified electrician. We assume no responsibility for faulty or unsafe installation.

HOW WE USE YOUR DATA

We use your personal data for the following purposes: 

  • To provide and operate the Airmeter service 

  • To display real-time and historical energy consumption 

  • To enable fair cost-sharing among tenants 

  • To troubleshoot, support, and improve the App 

  • To ensure compliance with legal obligations 

LEGAL BASIS FOR PROCESSING 

We process your data under the following legal bases: 

  • Contractual necessity: To provide the Airmeter service 

  • Legitimate interests: To maintain and improve the App 

  • Legal obligations: To comply with applicable laws 

  • Consent: For optional features (e.g., notifications) 

SHARING YOUR DATA

We do not sell or rent your personal data. We may share limited information with: 

  • Service providers (e.g., cloud hosting, analytics) 

  • Third-party platforms: Your energy consumption data is accessed via the eWeLink cloud under their privacy policy 

  • Authorities: When required by law or legal process 


DATA RETENTION 

We retain your personal data only as long as necessary to provide our services, comply with legal obligations, and resolve disputes. If you delete your account, we will erase or anonymize your data within 30 days, unless longer retention is legally required. 

INTERNATIONAL DATA TRANSFERS

If your data is transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA), we ensure it is protected through appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent protections 

YOUR RIGHTS UNDER GDPR 

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Right to restrict processing

SECURITY 

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your data against unauthorized access, loss, or misuse. However, no system is 100% secure. 

CHILDREN’S PRIVACY 

Airmeter is not directed at children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children 


CHANGES TO THIS POLICY 

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted in the App with the “Last Updated” date at the top.
